How We Create Value

TEM has been described many ways. Gartner and Aberdeen have weighed in, and telecom management associations like AOTMP have their definitions as well. Here’s our very straightforward take:

TEM is the art and science of running high-performing telecom environments as efficiently as possible, at the lowest overall cost.

We create value for our clients by helping them accomplish the two key objectives above – efficiency and cost reduction. And we do that every single day.

TEM As A Traffic Hub

Imagine a traffic circle with five intersecting roads—each of those roads representing a value that delivers either cost reduction, improved performance, or both. As drivers enter and navigate the circle, they encounter the various benefit categories. Ultimately, the more spokes of the circle that are intersected and acted upon, the more benefit.

The Perfect Sequence

In a perfect world, each of the value items listed below (and on the chart) would be undertaken in order, beginning with network efficiency, to maximize the overall gain. That’s because each item serves as a foundation point for driving benefit in the next stage. In the real world, we encourage clients to get started wherever it makes the most immediate sense, because there are no benefits at all until action is taken.

  • Network Efficiency: Select and deploy the right technologies and services for optimized network performance and usage.
  • Contract Performance: Acquire telecom services under the most favorable pricing and terms (never forget terms!).
  • Invoice Management: Maximize the efficiency and accuracy of internal chargeback, vendor payments and other financial processes.
  • Billing Accuracy: Assure that you are being charged correctly by your vendors so you pay what you owe, not what you’re billed.
  • Inventory Management: Control and manage what you have, where it is and what it costs.

Defining Value In Your Terms

Your specific needs in the individual benefit categories may vary from those of another company for many reasons. Have the problems you are trying to solve already been identified within your stakeholder population? Our 28 Second TeleManagement Test provides a quick tool to assess your situation, and determine which of the five benefit areas on the Traffic Hub can provide the greatest gain both short-term and long-term.
